The performing arts hall had a complex brief incorporating the provision a high level of technical and acoustic design to support the performance program. Biscoe Wilson Architects co-ordinated specialist advice with the general requirements of the Department of Education including flexible, multiple-use requirements.
The stage is able to be closed by operable walls for use as a dance studio. The auditorium is able to be split by 7m high operable walls and configured as dance/drama studios and also as small lecture spaces when sections of the stackable auditorium seating are deployed. A blue room is provided (compensating for green school uniforms) for green screening or chroma keying video productions. A fully functioning bio box allows for lighting and audio design and control by students.
The existing school built and corporate colour palettes are extended in into the internal and external building design while the building forms the third wall in creation of a central school courtyard.
